Pairing Ideas

Let's just say, vanilla ice cream will never be the same.

Full disclosure: our idea of the perfect way of enjoying Heavens to Betsy is to 1) unscrew the lid, 2) spoon out a healthy dollop, 3) devour, 4) swoon. We’ve been told the swooning part is a personal choice, and is sometimes replaced with other equally noticeable demonstrations of pleasure. Regardless, here are more ways to love Heavens to Betsy:

Fudge Sauce Fondue

Spoon your favorite flavor of Heavens to Betsy into a sauce pan or microwave-safe bowl, then warm gently. Avoid bringing it to a simmer on a stove top, as fudge may separate if it gets too hot. Same holds for the microwave, so we recommend starting with 10 seconds, then adding a few more at a time, as needed. Then peel and slice a banana, de-stem, wash and dry some fresh strawberries, skin and slice a juicy peach, or prepare anything else you love to eat with rich, silky chocolate. Then dip to your taste buds’ content.

YEAH… FRESH FRUIT DIPPED INTO SOME SILKY WARM HEAVENS TO BETSY IS SCRUMPTIOUS. BUT MARSHMALLOWS WITH A SPRINKLE OF CRUSHED ALMONDS? HOLY CATS!

Instant Treat

Spread your favorite Heavens to Betsy flavor directly from the jar onto a slice of warm toast, a just-ripe banana or your favorite sweet crackers.

THERE ARE NO RULES AS TO HOW MUCH HEAVENS TO BETSY TO APPLY.

Dessert Topping

Gently warm some Heavens to Betsy on a stove top, taking care not to over-heat it. Better yet, zap for 10-15 seconds in a microwave. However, as microwaves vary in strength, we recommend starting at the short end of that, then adding a few seconds at a time as needed. Then pour over your favorite dessert. Or even one that isn’t your favorite. Cuz if you do that, you just might have a new favorite.

IF CHEESECAKE IS YOUR JAM — YEAH, WE SAID THAT ON PURPOSE — WE SUGGEST A TOPPING OF MIDNIGHT OR CHERRY.

Everyone has their own way of approaching dessert, but here are some pairing suggestions you may want to try. And if you come up with something you find irresistible and would like to share it, let us know and we could add it to our list.

  • Cheesecake — try Midnight or Cherry
  • German Chocolate Cake — Cherry
  • Flourless Chocolate Cake — Orange
  • Black Forest Cake — Almond or Cherry
  • Tiramisu — Espresso
  • Red Velvet Cake — Midnight, Cherry, Espresso or Almond
  • Brownies — Wanna splurge? Add dried cherries to your brownie recipe and top with Cherry or Almond

Morning Mocha

Situated in the Seattle area, we’re intimately familiar with the area’s obsession with coffee. We’ve found that most people are fairly particular about this daily ritual, and don’t much like changing things up. Frankly, we don’t either. On occasion, though, kicking this morning routine up to another level is a simple pleasure you ought to give yourself. So for you latte lovers, try stirring in a spoonful or two of Midnight Dark before adding your hot milk of choice. One taste and you’ll know why.

A SPOONFUL OR TWO OF HEAVENS TO BETSY MIDNIGHT WILL TURN YOUR MORNING LATTE INTO A “WOW, WHAT A MORNING!” EVEN IF IT’S RAINING.

After Dinner Delight

No, not that. We’re talking cappuccino or decaf coffee. Kind of the same idea as the morning mocha, but a way to cap off your day with a sophisticated and indulgent pause that warms the soul and delights the taste buds. This time, try a little Orange, Almond or Cherry Heavens to Betsy. Mmmmmm.

SOMETIMES BEING A LITTLE MESSY ADDS TO THE EXPERIENCE. ESPECIALLY IF THE MESS IS FROM TOO MUCH HEAVENS TO BETSY.

Trifle

If you’re dying for something decadent but a bit off the beaten path, a trifle could be just the thing. Simply combine a large spoonful of Heavens to Betsy with your whipping cream. Use the chocolatey cream as a layer between fresh fruit or cake. Then drizzle a bit more of warmed Heavens to Betsy directly on top!

THERE ARE BANANAS IN THERE, YOU JUST CAN’T SEE THEM.

What people are saying:

Farewell. And thank you so much!

There comes a time in every woman's life... and this is it.

There was a time in my life when searching for the perfect hot fudge sauce was tantamount to breathing, but after a few months of banging my tastebuds against the wall I started thinking I could do better myself. It took a good portion of a calendar year to perfect Heavens to Betsy, and a while longer to bring it to market. Lots of hard work for sure, but it was 100% worth it for a variety of good reasons, not the least of which is that one flavor or another seems to have drawn a smile on the faces of more than a few chocolate lovers. If you are among them, I offer an enthusiastic thank you for your gracious support and, in some cases, your passion for Heavens to Betsy. Unfortunately, I have removed my apron and left the kitchen for the last time and our sauces are no longer in production. I hope your love of a great hot fudge sauce leads you to your next Heavens to Betsy and, again, please accept my heart felt gratitude for all your support. Best wishes.
